MATERIAL SELECTION GUIDE

Choose the Material That Fits Your Process

Different jobs call for different materials—and the same material can behave differently from grade to grade. Use these four questions to narrow your starting point, then validate it with technical data and a sample.

Have your application details ready? Tell us what you are making, the material you will cast and your target working time. We can help you identify grades worth testing.

01 / FIND THE PRODUCT FAMILY

Which material suits the job?

For a pourable, flexible mold, start with silicone rubber. For tough, abrasion-resistant mold work, compare polyurethane rubber. For a quick hand-pressed impression, choose silicone putty. If you need a fluid in a defined viscosity grade, explore silicone oil.

02 / CONSIDER THE USE CONDITIONS

Where and under what conditions will it be used?

Consider the surfaces and materials it will contact, the temperatures and environments it will face, and any safety or compliance requirements. These conditions can narrow the options before you compare individual grades.

03 / COMPARE THE RIGHT PROPERTIES

Which properties matter most??

Compare the properties that affect handling, application and final performance, such as viscosity, working time, cure time, hardness, strength or fluid stability. Focus on the specifications that matter most for your process and intended use.

04 / VALIDATE BEFORE BULK ORDER

How do I know the grade will work?

Request the relevant TDS and SDS, then test a sample with your actual master and casting material. Confirm packaging, expected lead time and any application-specific documentation for the exact grade you plan to buy.
